Most people feel about as comfortable in front of a camera as they do at the dentist. I get it — I’m not exactly a natural model myself. So I’ll spend time making sure you’re relaxed and settled before we get going. A few laughs usually help. I come well-equipped with those too.
One practical tip: keep the jewellery simple. Large earrings and bold necklaces draw the eye away from the thing we’re actually here for —
your face.
Why do headshots matter for business?
Think of your headshot as your pre-audition. Actors have known this for decades — without a decent one, you’re not even getting in the room. The same applies in business. A strong headshot tells people you take yourself seriously, that you’re a real person worth talking to, and that you’ve invested in your own brand.
For companies doing team headshots: there’s a genuine benefit to having your staff photographed consistently. It says you’re organised, professional, and proud of the people who work for you. And for your team? Most of them will secretly love having a great photo they can actually use.
Are images manipulated?
Will I be retouched beyond recognition?
Short answer: no. Long answer: also no.
Every image goes through a careful edit in Adobe Lightroom — colour, exposure, contrast, all the technical stuff that makes a photo sing. In Photoshop, I keep things light. Stray hair, a distracting shadow, the odd highlight blown out by the lighting — yes. Digital surgery that means your colleagues don’t recognise you on Monday morning — absolutely not.
A headshot should look like you. A great version of you, but still unmistakably you.
How many images do I receive?
All of them. Well — all the good ones.
I don’t impose an artificial image limit, so you’ll receive every shot that passes quality control, regardless of how many that turns out to be. I’ll also make sure you have the opportunity to change outfits if you want variety, and images are delivered in both web-friendly and print-ready formats at no extra charge.
Need text added — your name, job title, company? I can do that too. Still no extra charge. It’s just part of the job.
